About Us

In today’s world of rapidly produced content and fleeting online trends, Pubs.Movie.Blog stands for something different — something lasting. We don’t chase every new release just to be first. We believe in slowing down and watching carefully. Analyzing deeply. Writing thoughtfully. Discussing passionately. That’s why this blog exists.

Pubs.Movie.Blog is a destination for those who see cinema not just as entertainment, but as art, culture, history, and emotion — all playing out on screen. This “About” page is here to tell you what we stand for, how we work, who we are, and why thousands of movie lovers like you are becoming part of this community every day.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple but powerful:

To build a global community of thoughtful movie lovers through in-depth reviews, meaningful discussions, and passionate exploration of cinema — across every genre, culture, and style.

We believe in the value of meaningful content. We believe in nuance. We believe that cinema, at its best, doesn’t just entertain — it transforms.

Our Story: How This Blog Was Born

Pubs.Movie.Blog was born from a conversation — between a few cinephiles who realized they were tired of shallow film reviews, clickbait listicles, and paid promotions disguised as opinions.

We noticed something:

  • So many blogs were built around algorithms, not audiences.
  • So many reviews were being written without watching the entire film.
  • So much of what was called “film journalism” was actually just marketing.

So we asked ourselves: what if we did it differently?

What if we built a space where:

  • Every review was watched, researched, and written with care?
  • Readers could trust our authenticity?
  • Diverse cinema from around the world was given equal space as Hollywood?
  • Discussions, not just opinions, were encouraged?

That’s how Pubs.Movie.Blog began. With a laptop, a library card, and an obsession for great storytelling.

What We Believe

🎬 Cinema is Universal

It doesn’t matter where you live, what language you speak, or what genre you prefer — movies speak a language that everyone understands. We cover international cinema with as much care and excitement as mainstream blockbusters.

🤝 Trust is Everything

We don’t write for studios or sponsors. We write for the reader. Our integrity matters more than our traffic numbers.

🧠 Smart Doesn’t Mean Boring

We aim to write reviews and articles that are intelligent, well-structured, and insightful — but never pretentious. We write for real people, not just critics.

❤️ Passion First, Always

Every member of our team — from reviewers to editors — is someone who genuinely loves movies. That passion fuels everything we do.

Who We Are

We’re a diverse group of:

  • Film students and teachers
  • Indie filmmakers and editors
  • Screenwriters
  • Global cinema lovers
  • Journalists and content creators

We’re based in different parts of the world — from Pakistan to Canada, India to the UK — which helps us bring a wide range of perspectives to our work.

What unites us is our shared belief that movies are worth talking about, debating, celebrating, and — sometimes — disagreeing over.

✍️ Meet Our Founder

Sohaib Abbasi, the creator of Pubs.Movie.Blog, is a film enthusiast, blogger, and writer with a deep appreciation for cinematic storytelling. What started as a passion project has now become a full-fledged platform for serious movie lovers.

Sohaib’s goal was never to chase virality — it was to build something real, something useful, and something that would last.

What Makes Us Different?

There are thousands of movie blogs out there. So why choose us?

In-Depth, Unbiased Reviews

Our reviews aren’t written in a rush. We research, analyze, and reflect before writing. And if we don’t have something valuable to say, we don’t publish.

Global Film Coverage

From Korean thrillers to French New Wave to Iranian dramas to Nigerian comedies — we shine a light on films that deserve your attention, no matter where they come from.

No Sponsored Opinions

We don’t accept money to write positive reviews. If we ever run ads or partnerships, we’ll clearly disclose them. Our readers come first — always.

Curated Recommendations

We don’t just say “watch this.” We explain why a movie is worth your time, who it’s for, and how it fits into cinematic history or current trends.

Community Engagement

We actively encourage reader comments, feedback, recommendations, and participation. Soon, we’ll launch:

  • Film Q&A sessions
  • Reader-submitted mini-reviews
  • Watch parties
  • Contests and giveaways

How We Structure Our Content

To keep things useful and organized, we’ve built our blog around key pillars:

🎥 Reviews

Detailed, spoiler-free (or clearly marked spoiler) reviews of films from all over the world.

📚 Essays & Features

Deep-dives into genres, directors, film theory, and cinematic trends. These are written for both casual readers and serious film students.

🗓️ Upcoming Releases

Curated previews of movies worth tracking — from major theatrical releases to streaming debuts.

📋 Lists & Rankings

Top 10s, hidden gem roundups, best-of-the-decade features, and themed collections (e.g. “Best One-Room Movies,” “Films with No Background Score,” etc.)

🌍 Global Cinema

Spotlight sections focusing on one country or region at a time — highlighting its film culture, key movies, and historical significance.

For Filmmakers and Students

We understand that many of our readers are also aspiring creators, not just consumers. That’s why we plan to launch a dedicated section for:

  • Screenwriting tips
  • Indie film budgeting
  • Interviews with cinematographers and editors
  • Short film analysis
  • How-to articles (e.g. “How to Write a One-Location Script”)

What’s Next for Us

We’re continuously improving and expanding. Over the next year, you can expect:

  • A weekly newsletter
  • Video essays and YouTube content
  • A searchable movie database
  • User profiles, watchlists, and rating tools
  • Partnerships with indie film festivals

And most importantly — more of the deep, honest, passionate writing that brought you here in the first place.
